That’s why PCG offers:
- Same day sick appointments
- Extended evening hours
- Saturday hours
- 8 am walk-in hour where no appointment is necessary
- 24 x 7 phone access to an on call provider
Well-Child Checkups
Scheduled checkups are a vital part of the health of your child. They are comprehensive examinations that assess your child’s growth, development and overall health at critical milestones. The goal is to identify and address any potential health issues and protect your child against deadly and debilitating childhood diseases and pathogens, ensuring your child has the best start in life. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), well-child checkups are recommended at the following intervals:
- Within the first week after birth
- At 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, and 24 months
- Annually from ages 2 to 21
This timeline is designed to coincide with critical stages in your child's development, ensuring timely interventions when necessary. They also allow parents to discuss concerns and receive guidance on nutrition, sleep, and behavioural issues. PCG also offers timely Sports & Camp physicals when you need them.

Your child deserves access to their doctor when they need it. That’s why we offer an 8 am walk-in hour, evening hours, Saturday hours, same day sick appointments and same day physicals.
Immunizations
Vaccines offer a shield of protection against numerous infectious diseases that once posed severe threats to children's health. Through stimulating the body's immune system to recognize and combat pathogens, vaccines have drastically reduced, and in some cases eradicated, the prevalence of diseases that led to high morbidity and mortality rates in children.
The pediatric vaccination schedule is designed to offer protection from birth through adolescence, safeguarding against diseases such as measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (DTaP), polio, hepatitis B, and varicella. These vaccines are crucial for preventing outbreaks of diseases that can lead to severe complications and fatalities.
Developmental Screening
All children do not develop at exactly the same time. But when that development falls below established ranges, interventions are often required. . Developmental screening is typically completed between the ages of 2 through 5 in these areas:
- Speech
- Gross motor
- Fine motor
- MCHAT (Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers)
- Growth curve analysis
MCHAT: This is a 2-stage parent-report screening tool to assess risk for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).*
Growth Curve: On every well child check up, we will measure, record and analyze your child’s growth curve for height, weight and head circumference. This will be compared with other children of the same age to understand where your child is in their unique developmental journey and can offer insights into correctible medical conditions or nutrition needs not being met.
Timely developmental screening, early diagnosis and robust intervention will ensure that your child gets the support they need when they need it to live their best life and achieve their fullest potential.
*An official Autism diagnosis can only be made by a Developmental Pediatrician. PCG has relationships with both Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children should a referral be necessary.
Pre-Natal Consultations
The journey of parenthood begins before the birth of your child, making pre-natal visits to PCG an invaluable step in ensuring the health and well-being of both mother and baby. Selecting and meeting with your provider before giving birth isn't just a formality; it's a crucial part of your prenatal care.
This proactive approach allows parents to establish a relationship with the provider who will be caring for their child, ensuring they are comfortable and confident in their choice. It's an opportunity to discuss family health history, potential concerns, vaccination schedules and parenting practices, setting the stage for a seamless continuation of care post-delivery.
Moreover, these early interactions provide essential guidance on neonatal care, breastfeeding, and adjusting to the new dynamics of family life. In essence, pre-natal pediatric visits are not just about medical care; they are about building a foundation of trust and knowledge that will support your family's health journey from the very start.
