We couldn’t be happier to welcome Dr. Peter Smith to the Pediatric Care Group family! Dr. Smith talks family, pediatrics and his favorite ways to relax!
Tell us about yourself:
I have been a practicing pediatrician for over 18 years. I completed my undergraduate degree at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster and
then Medical School at the University of Pittsburgh. Then I completed my residency at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA.
How did you know you wanted to become a pediatrician?
During med school I did a pediatric rotation and the fellow running the department had a great attitude that was quite infectious. I found the rotation very enjoyable and fell in love with it, completely by happenstance. Throughout my career, every pediatrician I’ve ever met has a positive outlook on life and loves what they do!
What do you find most rewarding about being a pediatrician?
It’s hard to say. It’s great working with kids and the parents are very appreciative of the efforts we put forth. It’s especially gratifying to solve a challenging case.
So, why Pediatric Care Group?
PCG truly stood out amongst other pediatric practices. Their attitudes and approach fit in perfectly with my own. Every pediatrician has their own way of doing things, some I agree with and some I don’t. My goal was to find a group whose philosophy aligned with my own. I found that here at PCG.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I am a Blue Hen fan! My son just finished his freshman year at the University of Delaware, so Go Blue Hens! I’m also a musician. I play piano and I listen to all types of music. Golf is my getaway from the world. It’s a great way to relax. I am also a bit of a foodie so share your favorite recipes with me!
What are you most excited about right now?
Working at PCG and meeting all the patients and their families. So far my time here has been fantastic! I’m happy to be a member of the team and I am looking forward to making as much of a positive contribution as possible. I’m also excited about my son’s education and look forward to seeing all of his hard work pay off.
