The holidays are a stressful time. Your to-do lists get longer and the days get shorter. This year take the stress away from keeping your kids occupied and focus on your holiday feast. We’ve come up with three crafts that will keep your kids busy so you can tend to those last-minute Thanksgiving celebration details.
Gratitude Mobile:
Thanksgiving is a time to show your appreciation and affection to your family and friends. It is also a great time to teach your kids the meaning of gratitude. With the help of Twig and Toadstool, create a watercolor thanksgiving mobile that expresses what your kids are thankful for this year. This activity can include the whole family, have each member write down what they are grateful for and add it your Gratitude Mobile.
Gobbler Place Cards:
Make your table a little sweeter by adding these homemade turkey placeholders; let your kids explore their imagination, and creativity to design nameplates for all your guests at the dinner table. Using just construction paper, glue, and markers; let your little artists shine. You can even use household items found in the kitchen, Parents Magazine used cupcake liners to add a festive holiday touch to each nameplate.
Nature Wreath:
Using your own backyard as a canvas for your children’s imagination, grab a bag and head outdoors. Collect some crunchy and colorful leaves, twigs, pinecones, bark, and whatever else you want. Cut a large circle of cardboard or cardstock then, glue your nature pickings around the circled cardboard; and let dry to create your very own nature wreath with your backyard treasures.
This year, try these Thanksgiving-themed crafts with your little ones. You can use these crafts to help keep little hands busy while you handle prep work. Take some of the stress away from this holiday so you can appreciate the most important part: being together as a family.
