Some of the greatest memories of any childhood are those days spent at the beach. Unfortunately, we can’t live seaside all the time. But you can bring the beach to you with some clever tricks. Here are a couple of activities that allow your children to explore their creativity and imagination without a trip to the oceanfront.
Footprint Sharks:
These harmless Footprint Sharks will be a masterpiece on the fridge! All you need is white or grey paint, paintbrushes, paper, and markers. On construction paper, draw your ocean scene. Then stick your little one’s feet in some paint and press them onto the paper! (Don’t forget to keep baby wipes handy so you don’t end up with white footprints all around the house!). Once you’ve managed to get their toe imprints on paper, you can add some googly eyes and draw other creatures of the ocean, and make your masterpiece fridge ready.
Sand Play Dough
Toddlers love to squish and mold things, play dough is the perfect toy to allow them to do this and practice their fine motor skills. Bring the beach to your house and let your toddlers explore their imagination with their very own playdough sand! All you need is sand, flour, water, and oil. Together you can add up the measurements and stir until your sand dough is ready for castle building! If your castle is so perfect that you want to keep it, let it dry for a few hours until hard, then you can paint it and play some more!
There are so many activities you and your kids can do without having to make a journey down to the ocean. Don’t let distance discourage you from exploring about the ocean; with these arts and crafts, you can bring the ocean to you!
