Pediatric Care Group, P.C. FAQs

  • What is a patient-centered medical home?

A patient-centered medical home is a model of care where each patient has an on-going relationship with a personal physician who leads a team responsible for that patient’s care. The physical-led team provides for every patient’s health care needs and coordinates care across the health care system.

  • What can be expected during a “prenatal visit”?

Choosing a pediatrician to provide medical care for your newborn baby requires thoughtful consideration. At PCG, we know how important it is for your child to receive high quality medical care from birth throughout adolescence. PCG is happy to meet with expecting parents to answer questions and explain what sets our practice apart from other pediatric offices.

  • What is the patient portal?

PCG’s Patient Portal is a secure online website that allows patients 24 hour access to their personal health information from anywhere via internet connectivity. Patients can view important medical information such as lab results, visit summaries, and patient education handouts. In addition, all PCG forms are available for patients to print and fill out prior to their scheduled appointment. Patients will also have the ability to send messages to PCG and schedule appointments.

  • What services are offered for weight management/nutrition?

Good nutrition is essential for the overall health and well-being of children. Your child’s diet greatly impacts his or her normal development and growth. In addition, a well-balanced nutritional diet is the key to strengthening a child’s immune system and developing healthy eating habits for the future. Unfortunately, many children struggle with eating healthy options from the major food groups for a variety of reasons. Some children’s diets are affected by their lack of or increased appetite, sensory issues, or other feeding issues. Regardless of whether a child is a picky eater or struggles with their weight, PCG will assist your child in overcoming issues affecting diet and nutrition.

  • What to look for when choosing a pediatrician and why choose us

When choosing a pediatrician, parents must be mindful of the importance of physician availability and continuity of care. At PCG, we have office hours Monday through Saturday, and are available 24 hours to handle emergencies. Patients may request to see particular providers for their upcoming appointments. Some patients are more comfortable seeing a specific physician, and therefore, PCG will do its best to accommodate any reasonable request.

  • What do I need to bring to my first visit?

If you are a new patient, you will need to bring your child’s medical records, including vaccine records, and insurance information or insurance card. In addition, please bring the appropriate New Patient Forms with you to your first visit. These forms are available on our website. Click Here For New Patient Forms

  • Do you see patients without insurance?

Yes, you can self-pay at time of visit. Please contact us for more information regarding our fees and policies.

  • Can a friend or relative bring my child to his/her appointment?

Yes, but you MUST first fill out and sign PCG’s Consent By Proxy Form and bring this to our office prior to your child’s scheduled visit. The Consent By Proxy Form is available on our website in the New Patient Forms area. Access it by clicking here

  • Can my child always see the same doctor?

We encourage you to see the same doctor as often as possible. While this can easily be done for your well child visits, there may be times that your child needs to be seen, but your usual provider is not available. All of our providers are excellent and consult with one another so that your child will always receive outstanding care.

  • I’m expecting, will your doctors visit me and my newborn baby in the hospital?

Yes, we are one of a few practices that visits mothers and their newborn babies in the hospital after delivery. We pride ourselves on being available for our patients when they need us.

  • Which hospitals are you affiliated with?

We are proud to be affiliated with Abington Memorial Hospital. We also work with The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children.

  • Can I always reach a PCG provider outside of office hours?

Yes, no one else ever covers for our practice. If the office is closed, our answering service will get you in touch with one of our providers.
